Luckily, there are many different styles of yoga, studios and levels that are available to everyone right here in San Marcos, Texas.

Body Shop Movement Studio

Body Shop is a new studio here to San Marcos. They offer a variety of classes such as Hot 26, Vinyasa, Yoga Boot Camp, and Slow Stoic Flow. One of my favorite classes to take is the ashtanga primary series. The term ashtanga means “having eight limbs or branches.” Ashtanga yoga focuses on all eight limbs of yoga helping you develop physical, mental, and spiritual health. Aside from weekly classes, they also do monthly workshop courses such a sound bowl meditations or full moon ritual led by instructor like Dipali Patel who trained and taught yoga in India for many years before moving to San Marcos. A course is offered this July 30th called “Amethyst Detox”. This class is led by guest teacher Ellie Bostwick. In this course Ellie brings amethyst crystals to class that are available for students to place next to their mats. She asks everyone to set an intention in your stone and use it as an energy guide throughout the experience. She will also be doing a small sound bath during the final resting pose. This course is $15 just like majority of the courses. You can also book class drop-ins or try a week of unlimited classes for $30. To book this class or try out another go to bodyshoptx.com

  1. I have only tried yoga a handful of times, and I would love to get more involved. Also, as someone who is actually very into crystal healing, I was fascinated to hear about a studio that is offering a yoga class using crystals! Thank you for sharing that, and maybe I will attend on the 30th!

  2. Loved the title, very clever. Never really been into yoga, but I will have to check it out sometime. Seems like a good stress reliever.

  3. I had no idea there were so many different studios for yoga in San Marcos. I have been to Red Dog hot yoga before. Usually I will take classes at a Black Swan location in Austin because they are donation based.
